Some 2.51 million flights are scheduled for May 2007, breaking the previous record of 2.49 million taken in August 2006. The number of people flying has been substantially boosted by the dramatic growth of budget carriers. Of the 17.7 million extra seats available this month, 12 million are on "no-frills" airlines.
